Pfaeffikon SZ in canton Schwyz is part of the so-called "Greater Zurich Area", one of Europe's most important business, commercial and trade fair centers. Thanks to its proximity to the airport hub Zurich-Kloten (25-40 minutes), all major continental cities can be reached within only a few hours.

The road and rail transport infrastructure is excellent. Pfaeffikon SZ lies directly at the motorway A3 Berne/Basel-Zurich-Chur (San Bernadino axis) and close to the Gotthard motorway A2, one of Europe's key transport axes. Pfaeffikon SZ pursues a sustainable environmental policy, and is continously improving its modern and efficient public transport system. The regions around Lake Zurich as well as Einsiedeln are connected to Pfaeffikon SZ's suburban railway network (S-Bahn). All of the municipalities in Canton Schwyz are connected to the effective Swiss railway network or can be reached by bus.

At Wangen-Lachen on Upper Lake Zurich, Pfaeffikon SZ has access to its own small airport.
